I would highly recommend this book!!! The author guides the reader through the book of James incorporating practical wisdom that applies to many aspects for Christians today. His examples and illustrations of the author’s personal life makes the book very meaningful. The author also does an excellent job drawing from other scriptures and quotes which demonstrates his knowledge of the bible and dedication to research. This book was very inspirational and practical to me in learning more about the author James and the how I can continue to grow spiritually in my walk with Christ.
I highly recommend this book to anyone that is looking to take further steps in their journey of following Jesus. This book is perfect for those with a desire to learn about Jesus through the book of James. James is a Biblical book that will challenge the core of who you are and James Exploring the Elements of an Authentic Christian Lifestyle will only enhance your understanding. Everett Hill’s book is both inspiring and very practical. I believe that he uses easy to understand illustrations to help drive his points home, therefore, making it easier for the reader to apply to their own lives. I most appreciate the sections at the end of each chapter where there is a time of reflection, prayer and action. I encourage everyone who wants to learn more about Jesus, themselves and walking as a Christian take time and read this book.

Everett Hill shows his depth of understanding, and the revelation from God is evident as the topics in this book are broken down into simplified concepts, leading to an enjoyable journey for the contemporary reader. The book of James in the Bible is a hefty tome which traverses many different areas of the Christian walk and lifestyle, and Everett does a great job of tearing it apart and breaking it down, using modern and relevant examples to simplify the complexity of the original text. 'James Exploring the Elements of an Authentic Christian Lifestyle' is a necessary and complementary study guide, and a valuable tool leading to a greater understanding of this short but weighty book of the Bible. I especially enjoyed the section at the end of each chapter which includes deeper study aids for Reflection, Prayer and Action. Highly recommended for the new and more mature Christian alike.
This book was an excellent debut for this young Christian author. The genre is somewhat difficult to define. I would place it somewhere between a biblical commentary and a daily devotional. In my opinion, the fact that it straddles different genres in Christian literature is not a criticism, it is a strength, it is what makes this book unique. Biblical Commentaries tend to be analytical, historical and (let's be honest) extremely dry and difficult to get through. Devotionals, on the other hand, are easy to read and entertaining, but often times diluted theology. This book does a good job balancing the best of both worlds. It is deeply rooted in theology and well researched, yet it is fun to read and often times entertaining. Everett ties in the difficult (and controversial) themes of James with interesting (sometimes funny) stories and insightful analogies. You can tell you are reading a well-written book when you finish a chapter and realize that you want to keep reading but you should really set the book down and meditate on what you just read. Do not be mistaken however, this is no Chesterton, Lewis, or NT Wright, don't expect to discover novel theological insights. Do however, expect to be challenged (in practical ways), encouraged and moved to be more Christ-like. Truly, it is a very promising debut, and I look forward to reading more from this author.
Having met this really cool young man and his beautiful family, I supported his work buying his book. This is very good insight on the marvelous book of James. Anyone looking for inspiration, great thoughts, revelations and paths to application from the teachings of James, this book is for you. version available as well as hard copies.
